In March 1982
the Department of Environment , Government of India generously
supported the Environmental Group, World Wildlife Fund India
in Organizing an All India Conference of Non Governmental
Organisation Working on Environmental Protection. This Conference
was followed by a year long effort by the ESG to serve as
a focal point for NGO support activities in Delhi. A First
edition of the Directory was brought out by us in March
1983.
We have listed groups whose activities
, in any aspect, relate to environmental concerns-greening
and ecological restoration, sustainable use of natural resources,
development and propagation of appropriate technologies,
environmental education, training and public awareness,
protection of human health and well being, etc. Indeed only
such activities have been listed against organization even
if their work encompasses other aims and goals also.
The Department of Environment is making
efforts to mobilize NGO support for environmental planning,
information dissemination and education. |
